Syrians board the ‘freedom train’ for Strasbourg

Activists gathered in Strasbourg to await the arrival of the ‘Freedom Train’ from Paris.

The train was carrying around 400 anti-regime Syrians and their French supporters who were headed for the European Parliament.

They want the EU to lift the arms embargo for rebel forces, and for more European countries to recognise the coalition as the only legitimate representative of the Syrian people.

In Syria a video, which cannot be independently verified, seems to show an attack on the Alawite town of Aqrab in the central province of Hama.

200 people are believed to have been killed or injured.

It is not yet clear who is behind the assault but there are fears it may be a revenge attack against Alawites, the minority sect that President al-Assad comes from.
